Description
Product details and applications of Potassium Aluminium Fluoride (PAF)
Potassium Aluminium Fluoride (PAF) is an inorganic salt used in various industrial applications. PAF is also known as potassium cryolite, potassium tetrafluoraluminate, KAlF, and KAlF4/K3AlF6.
Potassium Aluminum Fluoride is a commercially pure fused inorganic salt. It possesses valuable properties and is utilized in various industrial applications. This compound is used as a salt flux in the smelting of secondary aluminum to maximize metal recovery, reduce or eliminate the magnesium content in liquid aluminium alloys and act as a filler in the production of abrasives. Additionally, PAF is also present in additives for the metals industry as a fluxing agent to accelerate dispersion upon addition.
It is utilized in the production of grinding wheels (as a filler and binder) and other abrasive products.
Glass producers use PAF for pacification or to create a cloudy appearance in the glass, resulting in a milky white color.
